Recently, I stumbled upon my new favorite metal-oriented record show in Madison. Wisconsin. Earwax Records is located in downtown Madison and has a wide selection of all things metal, punk, and everything in between. Upon walking up the stairs to the second floor entrance, I was greeted by Rob, the owner and operator. His shop is comfortable and has a great vibe.
CD’s, vinyl, T-shirts, sweatshirts, cassettes, magazines, stickers, patches, and all other memorabilia can be found at Earwax. The prices were fair and the shirt selection had more sizes than just large and extra large, which is a plus. The music selection was great. Everything from underground black metal to big name death metal, to classic punk acts are represented.
Since the fall of Metal Haven in Chicago, I believe I have found the Midwest’s new metal shop headcounters. I strongly encourage all fans of the above listed genres to check out Earwax Records when you are in the Madison area, but also to take a road trip to check it out in person if you don’t live in the area. Doom on!
I just found this site a few days ago (before this Earwax post) and I've been loving it. Weird timing on the Earwax mention...I literally live a block away from there and make an effort to go nearly every week. Nice write-up!
